A Look Back at the World of Stewpendous Trivia in January:

2026! Let's Make it a Great Year...

2026 started in our favorite way! We put the FUN into a Birthday FUNction on New Year’s Day. It was the big 40th birthday, and we loved telling their life story through the lens of trivia. We closed out New Year’s Day with a quizzical good time at O'Donovans. It was full of our favorite Thursday Fun Bunch, and we had returning friends like our favorite Heckler, Taryn (it’s all love).  January also took us out of the city limits for several opportunities to deliver our Stewpendous Ballyhoo to the burbs. Burbs Ballyhoo!

We celebrated a national treasure, Dolly Parton’s 80th birthday, with a Beard and Belly trivia brunch. It was a terrific break from working 9 to 5. After a Holiday Break, we returned to Roscoe’s Pub. And at Sidetrack, we celebrated High School Musical's 20th Anniversary, and everybody showed up with their head in the game. Speaking of games, we had a record-shattering show at Sidetrack for our Heated Rivalry Trivia. The fandom of the show came out in record numbers and filled the room with electrifying energy and so much love. I guess we'll all have to go watch the entire series AGAIN.

FUN FACT OF THE MONTH!

Did you know the day after Valentine’s Day is an official day of celebration too? It’s called Single Awareness Day. I like to think it’s called that because you get up that day and say, “I’m aware I’m single, and I get to do what I want, and go where I please,” and spend the day being single and fabulous. 💅🏼

Upcoming Stewpendous Chicago Trivia in February!

We are kickin' off the month with our Grammys Music Bingo Show Saturday, Jan 31st (TODAY) at Punch Bowl Social at 1 pm.

We also have a special Sunday Funday Show at Loaves and Witches on Sunday, Feb. 1st at 3:30 pm! Come see us this weekend!

Big News Y'all

Sparkle Squad Spotlights

For this spotlight, we want to shine the light on incredible servers, bartenders, and staff at our weekly locations that make our shows possible. We can bring the fun, but that’s only one slice of the good times pie.  We love the relationships we build with the staff of all partner locations that work our shows each week.

Next time you attend our show at your favorite bar/restaurant spot, go a little extra to show your appreciation because they certainly deserve it!

Trivia Time!

The Romans gave us the baby Cupid figure that we associate with love on Valentine’s Day. They conscripted the Greek mythology and took on the more recent iteration of the god as a cute little kid. They named him Cupid, a synonym for the Greek God, who also translates to “desire.” (His mother was likewise Venus, the Roman version of the Greek Aphrodite.)

Which Greek God did the Romans change the origin story of from a heartthrob that would play with the hearts of mortals and gods in order to cause mayhem to a baby who followed his mother’s wishes to make people fall in love?

Our Stewpendous Recipe!

Stewpendous Productions firmly believes that trivia is always better with snacks. We want to celebrate our love of Pop Culture with a monthly recipe for a snack or a cocktail.

Let's Get This Party Started! It's Time For Tiramisu!

The Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony is on Feb. 6th, and it will be the first Olympic Games to be officially co-hosted by two cities, Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. In the spirit of the games, we think that for the opening ceremony watch party, you should go for the gold and make a tiramisu!!

Ingredients:

Recipe found on The Kitchn

  • For the soak:

    • 1 1/2 cups

strongly brewed coffee, at room temperature

    • 1 tablespoon

      granulated sugar

    • 2 teaspoons

      dark rum (optional)

  • edible flowers to garnish

  • For the filling and assembly:

    • 1/2 cup cold heavy cream

    • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided

    • 5 large egg yolks

    • 16 ounces cold mascarpone cheese (about 2 cups)

    • 18 crisp (savoiardi) ladyfingers, divided

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

    • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

    • 1 (4-ounce) dark chocolate bar (optional)

Directions:

Make the Soak:

  1. Stir 1 1/2 cups strongly brewed coffee, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons dark rum if using, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract together in a medium bowl until the sugar is dissolved.

Make the filling:

  1. Beat 1/2 cup cold heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of the granulated sugar together in a medium bowl with an electric hand mixer on medium speed until stiff peaks form, 2 to 3 minutes.

  2. Beat 5 large egg yolks and the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar together in a large bowl with the mixer on medium speed until the mixture is pale yellow and glossy, about 3 minutes. Add 16 ounces of cold mascarpone cheese and gently fold together with a flexible spatula until almost combined (a few streaks are okay).

  3. Add the whipped cream and fold just until no streaks remain.

Assemble the tiramisu:

  1. Working with 1 lady finger at a time, quickly dip and submerge in the coffee soak, then place in an 8x8-inch baking pan. Repeat, leaving a little space in between each one and breaking ladyfingers as needed to fit, until the bottom of the baking dish is covered, about 9 ladyfingers.

  2. Transfer half of the mascarpone filling (about 2 cups) over the ladyfingers and spread into an even layer. Repeat with a second layer of soaked ladyfingers, then the remaining mascarpone filling. Sift 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder evenly over the top.

  3. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours but preferably overnight. Shave enough of a 1 (4-ounce) bar of dark chocolate with a vegetable peeler over the top to cover if desired before serving.

I’m going for gold with a Twizzle into a toe loop straight into a Salchow

Salchow: Edge jump named after Sweden’s Ulrich Salchow, 10-time world champion from 1901 through 1911. Skaters take off from the back inside edge of one foot and land on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.
