A Look Back at the World of Stewpendous Trivia in May:
Summer. is. here!
May kicked off with our favorite, Music Bingo, at Punch Bowl Social! This time, I had the joy of subbing in and spending time with the Love Biscuits at Fulton Market. We love our Saturday afternoons! Nothing is better than kicking off your weekend with good times and fellowship with your bestie boos over a tower of mimosas. If you haven’t experienced our Music Bingo Show yet, I don’t know what you’re waiting for; it is two giant scoops of fun!
We also celebrated so many beloved movies this month! From celebrating the new Devil Wears Prada movie at Replay Andersonville to celebrating May 4th and Star Wars across the galaxy, I mean, Chicago. A major highlight of the month was officially kicking off our Gallagher Way partnership! Our first night started in grand Chicago fashion: it was an overcast, rainy day, and we were worried about doing an outdoor show. Right on time, the rain stopped, the skies cleared, and it was a beautiful Chicago evening for outdoor trivia. We had a fabulous first crowd for both trivia and music bingo, and we are over the moon to be there all summer long!
Music Bingo outdoors and a special show at Whiskey Girl
May also allowed us to workshop our brand-new show, “John Barleycorn Night School Spelling Bee,” at Whiskey Girl, and it was a hit! The show is a ridiculous boozy twist on the classic structure of those Bees you remember from when you were a kid. So grateful to the Love Biscuits who came out as our test audience, and to Whiskey Girl, who let us use their fabulous space to kick off this show! We are so excited to do it again very soon.
We also had our first Bollywood Trivia Night! I could not have done it without my incredible co-host Leha. I learned so much about the incredible genre of cinema and the beautiful community of loyal fans.
Bollywood!
FUN FACT OF THE MONTH!
June is considered the most romantic month of the year. The month of June is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth. Marrying in her month was believed to bring prosperity and happiness.
There is also a long-standing belief, that many claim to be a myth, that brides in the Medieval era married in June because it was around the time of their annual bath and they smelled the freshest. The bridal floral bouquet was intended to mask any odor coming from the bride.
The 1954 musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers continued to reinforce this tradition with the song “June Bride.”
