A Look Back at the World of Stewpendous Trivia in September:
September came and went in a blink of an eye!
In the thirty days of the ninth month of this Gregorian Calendar year, we packed so much of our quizzical ballyhoo every night of the week, and we hope you joined us!
We spent two weeks with the fabulous Maas Maniacs in the World of the Throne of Glass book series at Headquarters Beercade. One true fan won the tournament, beating out over 20 teams. We also kicked off the newest season of RHoSL at Sidetrack (if you are a fan, you know what we are talkin' about).
We had plenty of private shows in September! We got wild with the Lutherans of Libertyville, celebrated milestone birthdays, and survived Y2K (again). You, too, can book us to come out and create a special trivia show for any event!
We started a new partnership with the folks of Soul & Smoke! We're bringing our Trivia and Music Bingo to their beautiful space in Avondale on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Y'all, you have got to go get their BBQ. We closed September by bringing our Trivia Fun Train to Chicago’s top universities for start-of-the-year social mixers and team-building activities.
We have loved every moment this month, thanks for being there with us.

Upcoming Stewpendous Chicago Trivia in October!
It's no secret. We. Love. October!
This month provides a true treasure trove of topics that will celebrate and embrace both the glorious Autumn season and the spookiest time of the year. We have so many fun shows coming up in October, we're positive there's a topic for you.
We will be having Disney Halloween Shows (my personal favorite) and paying tribute to the Legends of Horror at multiple spots around town. And we have a special show at Headquarters Beercade dedicated to another, less scary but just as iconic, figure: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice on October 9th!
Even though not all of our shows will be exclusively Halloween-themed, they will certainly all have some spooky season themes sprinkled throughout.
So, study up Love Biscuits!

Sparkle Squad Highlights!
Dane Larson
We want to shine our spotlight this month on Dane Larson. He is one of our OG Sparkle Squad Members and a very big reason we can bring weekly joy to the people of Chicago.
He hosts every Monday at Double Clutch in Evanston and always steps up and hosts other shows around the city. He is loved by his weekly players, and we are so grateful he shares his talents with us at Stewpendous Productions.Â
We want to give a plug for his upcoming show, David & David, at The Annoyance. Rumor has it he’ll be delivering a stellar Nic Cage impression.

"I PUT A SPELL ON YOU..."
I’ve been a fan of Hocus Pocus since it was a Box office Flop on July 16th, 1993. That’s right, friends, a movie about Halloween and Witches came out in JULY! Good thing it became a cult hit. I watch it every October, and it always reminds me of some really good times. We found this recipe and just had to share it with you. We'll be munching on these during our 2024 Annual Halloween viewing. Join us!
INGREDIENTS FOR HOCUS POCUS COOKIES (recipe at Little Sunny Kitchen)
1 stick (½ cup,113g) unsalted butter softened
1 ¼ cup (150g) granulated sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
½ cup sour cream
2 large eggs at room temp
1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cornstarch
¼ teaspoon salt
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
gel food coloring purple, orange, and green
2 cups sprinkles
1 cup white chocolate chips
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and the sugar on high until it is fluffy and there are no more lumps. Break apart any chunks of butter or sugar with a fork and scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Add the vanilla extract and the sour cream and mix on a low setting. Then add in the eggs and mix on low until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
Add in the baking soda, cornstarch, salt, and just one cup of the all purpose flour then mix on low. Slowly add in the rest of the flour one cup at a time and mix until there are no more streaks of flour in the dough.
Divide the dough evenly into three separate bowls and add a few drops of the gel food coloring at a time. Mix it all in with a spatula or spoon. Add more food coloring as needed until the desired color is achieved. Keep in mind that the cookies will lighten a bit as they bake. Then cover the bowls in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes. The dough will be very sticky but will be firmer and easier to work with after chilling.
Once the dough has chilled, preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Scoop about half a tablespoon of each color of the dough and roll them into individual balls (about 1 inch in diameter). Then grab one of each color ball and push them together and carefully roll them into one larger ball.
Place each ball about 4 inches apart and lightly flatten them into a small cookie shape with your fingers. They will continue to spread and rise as they bake so make sure they have enough space between them.
Decorate each cookie with white chocolate chips and sprinkles. Then place them in the oven to bake for 8-10 minutes. Check for doneness after 8 minutes. They should still be a little soft when they come out. Allow them to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them onto a plate.
