A Look Back at the World of Stewpendous Trivia in August:

August reminded me of 80s sensation Jem and the Holograms

because both were truly, truly outrageous.

The eighth month of 2026 gave new Sparkles to the squad, our largest outdoor crowds at Gallagher Way, and we saw so many new Love Biscuits coming out for quizzical good times across Chicagoland.

We wrapped up our summer on the rooftop for our ThinkPink Shows at Streeterville Social, and I’m so grateful to Cam and Jenny for taking on that show and bringing the joy every week.

We had our fair share of themed fun, everything. From Spider-Man to High School Musical. I love getting to create shows that celebrate things you love and that we're passionate about. I always get a kick seeing your T-shirts and tattoos celebrating your love and devotion.

FUN FACT OF THE MONTH!

Play-Doh was created as a wallpaper cleaner to scrub off coal soot before vinyl wallpaper became popular! Just because something is intended to be one thing, it doesn’t mean that its bigger purpose is waiting to be discovered.

Let’s all be a little like Play-Doh and continue to explore our potential of what we can become.

Sparkle Squad Spotlights

This month we welcomed Ellie, our new host for Whiskey Girl!

We are also excited to welcome Thomas Squires, who will be our new host for our new Northbrook Music Bingo Show at Pinstripes! That's right, we're takin' Music Bingo to the Burbs!!

Since I mentioned Jem in my August recap, let’s ask a question about the 80s icon.

Jem was Hasbro’s response to compete with Mattel's Barbie domination of the 80s.

Mattel's VP in charge of Barbie got a phone call saying that Hasbro was coming out with a rock star, so she put a group of designers together and called them The Pink Berets.

In 16 hours, Mattel had developed Barbie and the Rockers.

Instead of the normal 18 months it takes to develop a single Barbie (from design to market), The Pink Berets developed Barbie and the Rockers in 4 months to beat Jem to market.

Our Stewpendous Recipe!

Stewpendous Productions firmly believes that trivia is always better with snacks. We want to celebrate our love of Pop Culture with a monthly recipe for a snack or a cocktail. Nostalgia is a key pillar of our quizzical philosophy! Every month, we’ll give you a fun, nostalgic pop-culture recipe that will surely awaken your memories!

In Honor of Dolly Parton, it is only fair we dedicate

this section to her Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa.

This recipe is featured in the timeless classic (that makes me cry every time) Steel Magnolias. Dolly’s character Truvy Jones shares this recipe.

To paraphrase, Truvy says, "it’s a cuppa flour, a cuppa sugar, a cuppa fruit cocktail with the juice. Mix it and bake it till brown and bubbly. Serve it with ice cream to cut the sweetness."

For those bakers who feel that is just too simple a bake, I recently found a recipe for you. I would love to try it, but it’s way over my baking potential. If anyone wants to make them and share them with me, I’ll be forever grateful …

Ingredients:

Recipe found on The Pioneer Woman

1 cup Self-Rising Flour
1 cup Sugar
1 can Fruit Cocktail With Juice
Softened Butter, For Pan
Unsweetened Whipped Cream, For Serving

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with butter.
Stir together flour, sugar, and fruit cocktail with juice until just combined.
Pour into buttered pan and bake until warm and bubbly.
Serve warm with unsweetened whipped cream.
